Whether those who claim they are restless spirits or those who claim they are children raised by alligators are correct, these mischievous creatures frequent swamps on the edges of civilization. They love to cause trouble for traveler through their swamp and their antics frequently result in death for the unfortunates they choose to assail.

When a letiche gets surprise on its intended prey and its prey is in a boat, it will always attempt to tip the boat. It has a 85% chance of successfully doing so, less 10% per occupant of the boat (up to the number the boat can safely hold). With the prey in the water, the letiche will continue to attack until wounded or until it has incapacitated a target it can drag away.

I’m drawing heavily upon whatever folklore I can find for monsters to be Moedre and this turned out to be a good fit. I wish there were more about the Letiche ready to hand, but I’m not willing to spend too long searching, at least for now.

  1. Have you considered a giant Sylvilagus Aquaticus for the same type of attack?
