The Book of Jex-Chapter 13

With the Maelstrom conch shell in hand, we fled from the temple and returned to Water Deep to purchase the equipment we needed to confront the Queen of the Giants. For myself, I acquired a Scroll of True Seeing that I might reveal Imriss, my long time foe, to the giants and end her machinations. My pride would not go unpunished.

And behold, I was honored with blowing the conch to carry us to Maelstrom. We arrived in an empty chamber and were drawn to giantish music. And lo, in the concert hall we spoke to the queen’s sisters, who sent us to wait while they counseled. When they came to get us, to our surprise the giants attacked. I was about to stand and die bringing the fire of Torm upon them, but Brother Gregori was the wiser servant and persuaded them to cease their attack and allow us to speak to the queen.

And it came to pass that we entered the throne room. Yeah, and Imriss was there. The queen told us of where we could try to find a clue to those who took her father, King Heckaton, but I pressed in my pride to cast the scroll upon her and thus expose Imriss. Before we could, however, Imriss acted, stealing the rod and trapping the queen upon the throne before teleporting away! My scheme had wrought only disaster. Only by the grace of Torm could I have hoped at that time to repair the damage I had done.

My character, Jex, is a Half-elf Celestial Warlock with the Urchin background. The Book of Jex will be the story of his spiritual journey from being a chaotic neutral street denizen doing whatever it takes to survive to becoming a noble and courageous servant of Torm willing to give his life for the greater good.
