The Book of Jex-Chapter 4

And now, with the giants slain we did go back down into the city. We sought out the councilwoman and she was very closed to us, the consequences of which we shall see were disastrous. But behold, she sent us to the sheriff to see what work he could offer us. He deputized us and charged us to go on a patrol of the Icewind Dale for more of the giants. Though Brother Grigori and I would have liked to leave immediately, he advised us to leave in the morning so we could camp at a safe cave by night.

Torm watched over our road and I slew and skinned a yeti. When we came upon a giant fighting a dragon with a dead rider, we joined the dragon’s side and soon slew the giant. We learned that the dragon was searching for its dead master’s ring and when she named its powers over storm and cold, I remembered suddenly that one of the Harpers, Artis, had used this ring in saving me from the dragon Imriss. Behold, Torm returned to my addled mind the knowledge that he was the one the giants was seeking.

With my mind enlightened by the power of Torm, we moved on, considering the ring lost until we could find Artis, but at that time we could not comprehend what we would have to do when we did encounter him.

And now, the sun was growing low when giants ambushed us. And behold, I sought to wield the power of Torm without aligning myself to his will, and it came to pass that by net and gas we were soon captured. The giants carried us away and for a little while we slept Torm gave us other legs to bear us to our destination, that thusly we could be spared using ours.

My character, Jex, is a Half-elf Celestial Warlock with the Urchin background. The Book of Jex will be the story of his spiritual journey from being a chaotic neutral street denizen doing whatever it takes to survive to becoming a noble and courageous servant of Torm willing to give his life for the greater good.
