And it came to pass that while on the road to Nightstone I was joined by another worshiper of Torm and Brother Grigori and I found common cause in our journey. We were further joined by a priest of Gond named Aaven and an elf archer calling himself Derik in the common tongue.
As we approached Nightstone, behold, we heard a cry off the road and approached, rescuing a woman from goblins. And she did account to us concerning her caravan and its destruction at the hand of a dragon. We held our suspicions of her, but allowed her to join us in our way to Nightstone.
And lo, we reached Nightstone to hear the town bell ringing frantically. We rushed ahead to find goblins playing with the bell in the church. They fell before us and Brother Grigori and I raised the draw bridge to prevent further enemies before slaying two worgs and three more goblins the courtyard. We searched the town, finding no living soul (or dead) but more goblins, all but one of which we killed.
The remaining guards at the motte told us the ruler at Nightstone had been slain and implored us to go and retrieve the people from the nearby caves. But behold, before we set forth to do so, cultists appeared at the gate seeking the woman we had found on the road. She called them her friends and immediately tried to damage the drawbridge into falling. Though we failed to stop her, a dragon, who we would come to call Felgolos, arrived by Torm’s blessing. And behold, his might destroyed the bell tower, casting stones down upon her and stopping her mad dash to lower the bridge. And lo, Felgolos descended upon the cultists, driving them straight away from Nightstone’s gates.
Felgolos offered to join us in retrieving the villagers and we left to seek them in the caves, but behold, a band of orcs arrived, seeming to flee from the woods. Yeah, and Felgolos fought them fiercely while we retreated to the draw bridge, where Brother Grigori and Aaven held the bridge while Derik and I struck at them from behind. The battle was fierce, but by Torm’s light I kept Grigori from falling and we slew them all with the help of elves who arrived, pursuing them, and left as quickly as they came.
But behold, it was already growing late. Therefore, we decided to let the villagers spend one more night in the cave, resting the night in the village to recover our strength before setting out again.
This new adventuring log will take the place of Raglan’s journal entries are going to be in-character scriptural writings by my character in BiW’s campaign (her first time DMing!), which we alternated playing with the Primordial Frontier campaign. My character, Jex, is a Half-elf Celestial Warlock with the Urchin background. The Book of Jex will be the story of his spiritual journey from being a chaotic neutral street denizen doing whatever it takes to survive to becoming a noble and courageous servant of Torm willing to give his life for the greater good.
