Primordial Frontier S27: Taken Up

With the ancient dragon they liberated from its temple flown a way, the party discusses whether to keep the third alien ship they have now captured (they already have a fighter and a modified transport and it is a transport as well) and where each of them will ride:

    • Clarence: Level 15 Four-armed Skeleton Gunner with Revolvers
    • Mazzur: Level 9 Dead Lord
    • Level 2 undead Pilot
    • Level 6 undead Pilot
    • Level 3 undead Gunner
    • Level 6 Wraith
    • Level 6 Technowraith
    • Level 3 Technowraith
    • Undead Giant Insect

They resolve to keep the second transport to more comfortably transport the giant insect undead, with the lower level undead pilot flying it. However, just as they are loading up they see a mothership arriving in haste, presumably to support or investigate the destroyed camp at the base of the mountain. They quickly discuss how to escape.

With the mothership approaching too quickly to probably outrun it, they discuss whether to scatter so two ships get away, send one ship to draw them away (flown by the least skilled undead pilot), or to pretend the ships are abandoned and let them pass. As they weigh the merits of their plans, Rathdar prays to get Vardor’s take on his desire to attempt to board the mothership and do damage there. Vardor admires the plan and Rathdar works to convince the party to that course of action. Soon, the plans to try to escape are all but ruled out by the nearness of the ship and they resolve to hide on the ships and get either picked up or passed over.

Ships leave the mothership and descend to the base of the mountain and the mothership hovers nearby, using beams to pull the party’s ships up into its lower hangar. They are all low on spell points, so they keep quiet inside the ships hoping to get some rest and recover. They watch ships prepared and coming and going in the hangar outside for about 12.5 hours (I rolled each half hour to see when the aliens got around to checking out their ships), all recovering over half of their spell points before they see a team of Estrei technicians emerge from an elevator and approach their trio of ships. Their time to rest seems to have ended.

This session was the same night as the Dragons epilogue and the Giants prologue. So it was pretty brief, but I’m so excited to have them inside a mothership at last!

The Primordial Frontier Campaign is set in the Perenia world of the Tyranny of Mundanity and Stormguard campaigns, but in a future where the world is characterized by wild magic below a mile above sea level. Sea level is the new underdark, and, well, I don’t suspect we’ll be seeing the underdark at all.
