The way to the king’s quarters had two guards, who I slayed, all pretense of stealth being gone now. In his chambers, we found the king escaping by a secret passage, but Juniper and Anduin soon perceived that he was a doppleganger disguised as the king! I put him to sleep and we teleported to Castle Damian to interrogate the impostor.
The impostor was very cooperative, purporting to have joined the cultists out of convenience, not zeal. He turned the imprisoned king over to us without any fuss. King Grey was profoundly ungrateful for our rescue, still justifying his terrible war, though he admitted that the cultists he had aligned himself with had gone too far. We have convinced him to initiate a truce while we deal with Tiamat and her servants within the kingdom and on the northern shores.
We will now travel with him back to his kingdom and help him to root out the traitors who imprisoned him and put a stop to the cultists and astrite golems not terrorizing the land. He seems truly to regret his fell alliance with these forces. If he betrays us, I will be only too happy to bring him for justice for the crimes he claims to have forsaken.
These journal entries are going to be in-character play reports from ByW’s campaign, which we alternated playing with the Tyranny of Mundanity campaign and now the Primordial Frontier campaign. My character, Raglan “the Light”, admires RiH’s character, Anduin Damian and follows him believing his place in history will be as a companion of the royal adventurer. He is impressed with their elven companion, Juniper (played by BiW), but does not know her well.
