After some brief discussion with Lamila, the Raven’s Roost Adventurers leave her to go and try to rally the dragons and return to their ship. They all fly, approaching the ceiling of clouds to find Seradal trying to elude two alien fighters in their troop transport. Though the enemy is swifter, she is able to avoid most damage while using their modified lasers to fire back in time, burn marks appearing on her enemies from no where.
- Rathdar (ByW): Level 7 Human Vampire Paladin of Vardor
- Bilbil (RiH): Level 7/5/1/1 Harpy Thief/Alchemist/Technician/Tinker
- Amhran (BiW): Level 7 Fey “Pucca” Cleric of Emedia
They rush to Seradal’s rescue, Rathdar taking human form near enough a fighter to teleport himself into a cockpit, a skill he has been perfecting. He quickly cuts down the pilot and brings the ship to a stop. Meanwhile, Bilbil drops rocks at the cockpit of the second fighter, wounding the pilot. Amhran, in a form like the dragon Lamila, roars to intimidate them away.
The ships aren’t scared away. While one continues to pursue Seradal, getting the troop transport squarely in front of all three of its guns, a gunner on the ship Rathdar has stopped fires on Amhran, damaging her badly. Rathdar runs back into the ship, killing a technomancer in the hall while he repairs the fighter. Bilbil prepares to drop another boulder and Amhran closes in on the still functioning ship, hitting it with a death burst near the center of the ship.
Seradal’s ship takes a little more damage as she tries to elude the remaining fighter, but Bilbil drops another boulder, killing the pilot and sending it flying away. Rathdar swiftly slays both gunners on his ship and starts back to the helm and Amhran pursues the other fighrer, focusing a death burst on one of the gunner stations.
It takes a couple of rounds for the technomancer on the second ship to take the helm and come back around, firing on Seradal again. During that time, Seradal fires on the ship, Bilbil repairs Seradal’s troop transport, and Rathdar struggles to bring his fighter about. Amhran hits the ship with a couple more death bursts, focusing on the other gunner station.
The ship surprises them all when the technomancer brings it about, firing on the transport. Amhran finishes the two gunners with one last death burst and Seradal shoots out the cockpit, sending it careening down into the lowlands beneath the mountain.
Rathdar lands the ship on the landing pad above Lamila’s mountain, grateful for a ship with no minimum speed. The others all join him there and Bilbil starts a persistent repair spell on the transport. Amhran animates the dead crew of Rathdar’s ship, producing a capable crew for the fighter. With Amhran and her animated crew as overwatch, Seradal, Rathdar, and Bilbil take the transport down to salvage guns off the crashed ship. They soon scare off the many winged kobolds swarming the ship (descendants of Matchithew and Arkhia Skullgrim) and remove the two guns onto their transport before heading back to Raven’s Roost together.
This time, Raven’s Roost doesn’t flag them as an enemy, seeing the symbol of Vardor on their ship. They have already prepared an altar to Vardor for Rathdar to dedicate and he consecrates it to Vardor, becoming a paladin in the process. Bilbil, Seradal, and the port technicians work on installing the two guns on their transport for better defense. Amhran receives news from Emedia that Devil’s Gate has had many die. About this same time they receive a message from Tiernan (Rathdar’s grandfather) that Devil’s Gate is going to attempt to intercept the aliens’ big ship and end this invasion.
They quickly load up their two ships and rush out toward the coordinates Emedia’s dead last knew for Devil’s Gate.
