Almost five years ago I programmed my first hands-on puzzle for my players. I still use it from time to time, and it’s still available for free download. Richard’s Confounding Wall was a cool format, but its images (the Mind Weave arcane circle) probably aren’t suited to the lore of your world, and while it is suited to my world, I can hardly use it more than once.
So I finally got around to writing a puzzle generator! This tool, now available at DriveThruRPG, allows you to quickly create as many puzzles as you need, with custom dimensions and images, to litter all over your world. I know my players loved the first one, and now I can give them so many more with images that teach about the world at little time commitment from me!
How does it work? This video demonstrates the function and explains more about how I might use it if I were you:
Believe it or not, this was far less work than writing even a short module. Formatting and editing just take forever. If you like this, let me know. I am hoping to justify making many more puzzle generators in the future.
