Raglan’s Journal 24

Somewhat recovered, and not yet cowed into withdrawing, we crept to the college, where the guards had withdrawn from our threats, under the eye of the massive dragon. Juniper led the way in as a giant snake and though fireballs exploded around us (it seems some of the mages of the college welcomed House Grey) we rapidly dispatched of knights and mages alike, moving quickly through the ground floor.

Though we all contributed some magic to the battle, Juniper’s seemed the most significant, she seemingly having the most arcane energies still at her disposal. Her wall of fire made the battle far easier for us. With most of the enemy down, I ran to a back room we had not yet cleared and encountered an otherworldly creature. I inquired if it served Tiamat and it only responded with images of the dead of that other land the elves and dwarves come from. I responded with images of beheaded dragons and it flew into a rage, one of two possibilities I had anticipated. He had made his colors known.

He was a formidable foe, given my wounded state, but soon retreated from me. Not knowing how far he might have gone, I ran to Juniper’s aide, slaying the last of the mages troubling her. The alien warrior, meanwhile, ambushed Anduin. Anduin withdrew to our position where we weathered a fire storm before out counter attack. The enemy, apparently able to see through my illusions, had withdrawn again. It cast a fear over Juniper and I, but as we fled, Sigfried and Anduin defeated the foe.

We have discovered stairs to the floor above. A little rest here and we will proceed. We are not yet in a condition that we need withdraw, but we are in no shape to face that great dragon should we meet it.

These journal entries are going to be in-character play reports from ByW’s campaign, which we are going to alternate playing with the Tyranny of Mundanity campaign and the coming Primordial Frontier campaign. My character, Raglan “the Light”, admires RiH’s character, Anduin Damian and follows him believing his place in history will be as a companion of the royal adventurer. He is impressed with their elven companion, Juniper (played by BiW), but does not know her well.
