Biweekly Item-Mischief Shield

The Mischief Shield is a nuisance you will wish had never come into your life, even after it has saved it on various occasions. It’s just so annoying!

The shield is a large, bronze shield with intricate embellishments around the edges and a highly stylized face in the center. This face speaks, when it so desires, and it desires to do so often. In fact, it either can’t or it refuses to resist the urge to mercilessly mock everyone it meets.

Mischief Shield
Armor (Shield), Legendary (requires attunement)

Intelligence: 14 (+2)
Wisdom: 6 (-2)
Charisma: 16 (+3)

Languages: Common, Gnomish, Thieve’s Cant, Abyssal

Senses: Hearing and Normal Vision to 120 ft., passive Perception 8

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

While holding the shield, any creature that attacks you and understands one of the shield’s languages must succeed on a DC 13 Charisma saving throw or the attack is made at disadvantage as the shield hurls insults and taunts, drawing their attacks toward itself.

Curse. Whenever the shield is struck by an attack (the attack fails due to being at disadvantage from the insults or fails by less than 2), there is a 10% chance that the shield will turn even more vicious insults on the wielder. The shield casts Vicious Mockery as if 1st level with a save DC of 13.

A recent episode of Detentions and Dragons got me thinking about intelligent items again. Players beware!
