As Anduin, Juniper, and I joined the battle, we quickly cut down enemies, saving unicorns and others and it seemed we were about to capture the field in total triumph when suddenly a beam erupted from the tent, awakening one of the dormant astrite golems. There in the tent stood a massive dragonborne, a bronze horn in his hand and dead cultists all around him.
He soon opened another portal in the tent with him and more slaves came through, whose blood awakened a second golem. Calling for the others to avoid the astrite golems and withdraw if necessary, Andiun, Juniper, and I charged the tent. With a mighty fireball, Anduin immolated the remaining foes around the dragonborne, as well as slaves about to be used to awaken another golem. Juniper reached him first in the form of a large cat and was rebuffed, left writhing on the ground from a blast on the horn. I arrived next, but my blade could hardly wound the armored and powerful enemy.
Juniper called out to me to use the egg Invern gave us to summon him to our aide. I broke it and while Anduin’s astrite dragon and I tore at the armored foe a smoke arose. Invern emerged from it, seeing the chaos in great concern. He vanished again and when he returned, he was prepared to teleport all of us, including the all of the rescued slaves and our forces, away from the battlefield.
At first, still in my battle rage, I accused him of preventing us from destroying the portal pillars when we could have killed the dragonborne with his help. He calmed me, but we returned together to the enemy camp where he imbued me with great power so that with a mighty cast of the astrite hammer I was able to damage both pillars so as to need serious repair. It was all we could do with the several astrite golems the dragonborne had awakened.
Now, confident that the portal will not be ready to be opened again for some time, Anduin, Juniper, and I, along with some few of those rescued, have returned to Aviliobris, Anduin’s and my home. There, we hope to lend our might to the war effort and perhaps turn the tide and defeat the cultist efforts here in the South. We hope to succeed in that effort quickly and return to the North to stop the invasion once and for all.
These journal entries are going to be in-character play reports from ByW’s campaign, which we are going to alternate playing with the Tyranny of Mundanity campaign and the coming Primordial Frontier campaign. My character, Raglan “the Light”, admires RiH’s character, Anduin Damian and follows him believing his place in history will be as a companion of the royal adventurer. He is impressed with their elven companion, Juniper (played by BiW), but does not know her well.
