We found the key to the vault protected within the furnace, retrieving it with great effort. In the vault were many great wonders, but less than we might have hoped for in our cause. Though Invern obtained a powerful horn that could be used to open and close the portals without cost of blood and Anduin gained a powerful gauntlet, left by his ancestor, that gives him control of an astrite dragon facsimile, I fear in the battle to come arms and armor for all our forces would have proven more valuable.
There were some astrite weapons and armor, much of which we sent through a portal to Aveliobris to help in their war effort, as our forces are not well trained in their use. Some we armed with bows and arrows and simple astrite armor and Aman and I took up powerful astrite weapons and armor. We also obtained a great wealth of astrite and gold coinage, but perhaps the greatest find for our cause, buried in the coins was the first astrite hammer, forged to work this powerful weapon by ancient dwarves. This I have kept for myself, hoping it will have the might to break the astrite golems and astrite pylons that enable the portal. It is the best hope I have to delay the summoning of Tiamat.
Now, with the help of Inverns portals, we have brought our army quickly to the hills above the slave town where we must attack and free those slaves about to be killed to open the portal. We seem to have arrived undetected by Juniper’s magics, but their army is greater than ours. Perhaps Anduin and I can turn the tide by our strength, but with so many objectives, I question how to make our attack. On the morrow, we will have to decide. I hope we champions can bear the brunt of the enemy’s fury, but I suspect the freedom of those slaves below and of our world is going to require a sacrifice in the blood of these brave few who go to battle with us.
These journal entries are going to be in-character play reports from ByW’s campaign, which we are going to alternate playing with the Tyranny of Mundanity campaign. My character, Raglan “the Light”, admires RiH’s character, Anduin Damian and follows him believing his place in history will be as a companion of the royal adventurer. He is impressed with their elven companion, Juniper (played by BiW), but does not know her well.
