Raglan’s Journal 12

The tunnel on the other side of the portal did not turn out to be part of the city, as I thought it to be. We emerged from the tunnel ahead into the mountains, finding the wizard I battled impaled there. From the tunnel opening, we could see a city down nearer the coast. Dragons flew around and above it, and so we determined that this tunnel was merely one of access for the cultists to obtain things for their primary project in the valley below. We approached, taking two days to get near enough to see into it and plan our attack.

Juniper went down in the form of a wisp to speak to some of the slaves working there while we watched for an approach or opportunity to do damage. While we watched, we were approached from behind by two golems and a mage. We prepared an ambush, but they proved to be friends, working with resistors near the tunnel led by Anam, the ranger who we informed of wargs in the South. He found what he was looking, but was wounded, it seems.

When Juniper returned, we agreed to return with him to the resistors and assist in their effort, rather than attack the work town with just the three of us. On our way, Anduin’s owl discovered a band of cultists and other creatures escorting slaves toward the tunnel about a day behind us. After some debate, we determined to ambush them away from the tunnel, with Juniper disguising the battle from the dragons by magic.

The ambush went well, though the “death slaads” (as the mage called them) had a significant bite. There were three of them before we attacked, but they melted into the crowd of slaves and though we slew two of them, we know one remains with the rescued slaves. We will deal with him as soon as possible.

These journal entries are going to be in-character play reports from ByW’s campaign, which we are going to alternate playing with the Tyranny of Mundanity campaign. My character, Raglan “the Light”, admires RiH’s character, Anduin Damian and follows him believing his place in history will be as a companion of the royal adventurer. He is impressed with their elven companion, Juniper (played by BiW), but does not know her well.
