These rings must be crafted by the one to whom it attunes after creation and much contain some kind of symbol linking it to the creator. Its power depends on the goodness and lawfulness of the creator, as well as their level and class. The copper from which it must be made is pulled and consecrated by brothers of the Church of God from tithed coins. They sell this consecrated copper to increase the value of these faithful offerings from those who cannot give more.
Consecrating the Copper
Any good aligned cleric of the Church of God may create enough copper for a single ring from 3 copper coins. This process requires prayerful work before kiln for to combine the copper for 1 hour, followed immediately by 4 weeks of 6 hours of prayer a day, effectively keeping him from travel or other activities.
Crafting the Ring
The future wearer if the ring must shape the copper into a ring fit for his own finger himself. This process requires 160 hours of work, no more than 4 hours per day and no less than 1 consecutive hour may be counted. If the crafter goes more than 6 days without applying at least an hour of work, the unfinished ring must be restored to a featureless ingot and the effort begun anew.
The wearer of the ring, the Angel Herald, must spend time studying and polishing the ring, 10 minutes of necessary maintenance time being added per day. If this maintenance ever exceeds 140 minutes of required maintenance, the ring must be unmade and crafted again.
When not worn by the Angel Herald, the ring must be stored in a locked box bearing the creator’s symbol like that on the ring. When so stored, it does not accrue maintenance. When not worn, if not stored correctly, the ring adds required maintenance at a rate of 30 minutes per day.
The powers of the Ring of the Angel Herald depend on the goodness, skill, and power of the Angel Herald.
For a Chaotic Good or Lawful Neutral creator, treat their level as 5 less. For a Neutral Good creator, treat their level as 2 less. For a Lawful Good creator, there is no level penalty. Other alignment characters cannot create a Ring of the Angel Herald.
