Table: Poor Quarter/Slum Encounters

With my players in Mhyrinport, I’ve built up some tables for the Poor Quarter areas to choose encounters and other hooks. They’ve already worked once. Rolling a mugging in the area caused the party to lose track of their caravan and finally end up on their own in the city. There are other hooks built into these tables, if things happen right:

Day Time

  • 1-10 Nothing
  • 11-20 Nothing on main road, Reroll on back road
  • 21-30 Reroll on main road, Roll twice on back road
  • 31-35 Pickpocket attempt on a party member
  • 36-40 Witness a Pickpocket on main road, Pickpocket attempt on back road
  • 41-50 Beggar approaches party on main road, Pickpocket attempt on back road
  • 51-65 Beggar approaches party
  • 66-70 Witness a beggar, roll again
  • 70-75 Witness a mugging nearby
  • 76-80 Witness a mugging on main road, mugging attempt on back road
  • 81-90 Symptoms of disease witnessed: 81-86 cough, 87-89 skin condition, 90 vomiting
  • 91-100 Roll twice

Night Time

  • 1-30 Nothing
  • 31-60 Nothing on main road, Reroll on back road
  • 61-70 Shady crowd meeting
  • 71-75 Police chasing a criminal
  • 76-80 Witness a murder on main road, attacked on back road
  • 81-100 Reroll on main road, Roll twice on back road

I roll on these tables every square right now and mention what comes up as part of the general description of the streets and crowd, if their perception rolls are appropriate to recognize what is happening.

How did you like these encounter tables? I might make more later. Let me know!
