Derrick’s eyes squinted against the sunlight streaming onto him through the prison window. He groaned and turned away from it, trying to fall back to sleep. Surely he had been sleeping for days, but he felt still more tired than when he had begun. This prison was going to kill him. He only hoped the others could clear his name before it did.
If you don’t know the Mind Weave enchanting rules, this resource will help you keep up: Enchanter’s Almanack.
Balrick’s Heavy Yoke
Balrick stands among the most renown of enchanters, famous for the pieces he created long ago when he was charged with retaining the most dangerous of criminals in Ranjou. As the Master of Deeprock Prison, he created Balrick’s Heavy Yoke for political prisoners who needed to die from natural causes in short order.
Components: Do, Grai, Death (Full)x2, Zo (Advanced Negativity Arc)x2, Sar (Advanced Evil Radius)x2
Understand Artifact: 90 to understand it is activated by wearing it and causes fatigue to the wearer.
This greater enchant channels all of its power to causing fatigue, it is “In” sized and so gets no power multiplier. It causes 6d6/2 fatigue every 2 seconds, averaging 10.5. With someone at rest recovering only 1 fatigue per 2 seconds, this means that the yoke can bring the wearer to 100% fatigue in 22 seconds on average. Fatigue after 100% is converted to damage, so the yoke could easily kill the wearer. The wearer could combat this by sleeping, which allows fatigue recovery at 10 per 2 seconds. The yoke would still exhaust, but much more slowly. The iron banded, oaken yoke would be very hard to break by sheer strength.
